Equifax Settlement
- Obtain more information in regards to the class action lawsuit entitled James Jenkins, et al. v. Equifax Information Services LLC,
- This class action lawsuit includes “All consumers in the United States who, from April 28, 2013 through April 14, 2020, received a credit file disclosure from Equifax containing a public record“
- Class members who file valid claims may receive up to $269.10 in credit monitoring services from Equifax
The Equifax Settlement is under review in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and is case number 3:15-cv-00443-MHL. The lawsuit revolves around claims that Equifax Information Services LLC violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by providing consumer credit reports that did not properly identify the source of public record information. Equifax denies all actions of wrong doing the case but have agreed to settle to avoid the uncertain outcome of a trial by jury. The lawsuit was originally filed in 2020 and the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit is named as James Jenkins.
Equifax Settlement Quick Notes
- A proof of purchase but class members will have to register their email address
- The Equifax credit code will be sent to class members via email so be sure to use an email address that is checked often
- A settlement hearing will take place on or around April 28, 2020 (Equifax Settlement class members do not need to attend this boring hearing)
- Equifax has hired the law firm of KING & SPALDING LLP to represent their interest
