This program was created in order to stop crazy people in the state of Texas from driving around without proper auto insurance (these people are a dime a dozen as Texas estimates that 1 in 5 motorist on Texas roads DO NOT have insurance). The state of Texas estimates that drivers who do carry insurance are paying an estimated $1 billion annually in optional insurance coverage to protect themselves against uninsured and underinsured motorists. Understandably one can understand how a Texas driver who is insured might lose hours of sleep when hearing this stat! Drivers in the state of Texas who sell an auto will want to notify the state of the sale by completing the Vehicle Transfer Notification form available on the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) website at txdmv.gov otherwise the Lone Star State might not be aware of the auto sale.
Who exactly is TexasSure?: TexasSure, the vehicle insurance verification program, came about when the Texas Legislature directed the Texas Departments of Insurance, Public Safety, Motor Vehicles, and Information Resources to develop a system to reduce the number of uninsured motorists. – texassure.com/Insuranceverification.html
